After ten years of punkin’ along, No Fun At All has called it quits and comes with this ‘Best Of’-compilation as a final present for the fans. The most remarkable thing about this comp is that fans had the opportunity to vote on the Internet to help with the compilation of the tracklist. The CD contains no less than twenty-four songs, taken from NFAA’s six previous albums. The early albums seem to be getting a bit more attention, but all albums are represented here by three or four songs. The band’s sound never changed THAT much through the years, so most of the stuff is somewhat similar, although the songs from first release’ Vision’ have a bit of a hardcore feeling to them and the songs from ‘State Of Flow’, the last studio album from NFAA are a bit slower than the rest. As far as I know, the songs aren’t in a particular order, but it’s nice to see how new songs blend in with the old stuff perfectly. | |
Personal favorites are ‘Master Celebrator’, ‘Suicide Machine’ and ‘Should Have Known’. Except for the tracklist, the band’s discography and some cheesy pictures (including a very silly one of the singer at Bon Scott’s grave) the booklet doesn’t contain any additional information or word from the band, which is a bit of a letdown in my opinion. The CD ends with two new, previously unreleased songs and a cover of Gang Green’s classic ‘Alcohol’ to keep the hardcore fans happy. If you’re into NFAA, you will probably already own most of the songs on this shiny disc, but if you don’t really know the band yet, this might be the perfect way to get to know them. (Jasper) |
