Assemblage 23 is developing more and more into an electro pop band in which you will find the best elements of an act like Neuroticfish. Up-tempo songs that make you want to dance and at first glance can make you happy. Assemblage 23 has further developed the clean vocal style of Tom Shear as well as two brilliant moments: the ballads "Cocoon" and "Lullaby" (absolutely thrilling!!!). “Defiance” shows that Assemblage 23 has grown in every aspect.

The end result is an album with well-written songs and filled with melodic tunes you can’t deny. The text in the booklet is funny as well: "This sample text included for an idea of how this font would look when we’ll add content you know, the usual stuff: credits, thank yous and shout outs and maybe a few mr. Shear regarding his views about world politics and the latest organic food recipes".
