This album is a compilation of the 2002 European tour of these German melodic heavy rock veterans. Bonfire is one of those bands that is still doing what it was doing in the mid-eighties, doesn’t care about the changes of time and keeps on doing what it does best while using a loaded, massive guitar sound, solid drum and bass, and raw but melodic vocals. When playing live this is no different; the album is thus a well-organized collection of thumpin’ rock songs and harmonic ballads.
Maybe it’s even a bit too organized. | |
The album doesn’t contain any real extended versions, nor is it any different from the band’s studio work. The songs are very well-performed, but the band’s live sound could have added a certain energy that is missing on these recordings. Especially the vocals are very flat at times, for example, in “Proud Of My Country”. This statement actually sounds as if it’s coming from a tired man. Still, this CD represents a nice selection of catchy, heavy rock songs performed by a bunch of persistent men.
