Japan has always been a country with a large rock and metal audience. Even the “golden oldies” can still count on a sold out venue. This maybe convinced King Of Darkness that there still would be an audience for their music, a revival of seventies and eighties hard rock. Memories of Van Halen and Extreme come to mind.
The album is very well produced, a massive sound (are there really just three?), a broad variety of songs from straightforward to full speed, a ballad and an instrumental song. | |
Also the right balance between technical exposure, complicated breaks and mainstream compositions. All right, it’s all been done before, but nevertheless this album contains a quality above the average of the eighties. Only problem is the lack of passion in the vocals and solos. Maybe due to a bit too much attention towards the technical aspects of this album, so, maybe the next…
