This release of In The Flames Of Black Art is a re-release of Darzamat’s debut album with the same title from 1997. It has been re-mastered and released with one extra song; a remix of “The Storm”. This remix isn’t anything really special but rather a longer version with some techno influences. Although the album might not be of much interest to people who already own the original release, it might attract some new fans due to better management and a better distribution.

Musically the Polish Darzamat can be best described as symphonic black metal with gothic influences. The interchanging male and female vocals of Flauros and Kate create a special atmosphere and the music itself is full of tension and melody.

Listen for instance to the short black metal song “Inevitable Eclipse”. The background keyboards are of a fairly high level and are not the average pompous keyboards, which are so popular in so many melodic black metal bands these days.

Darzamat sound convincing every single second of this album. Not only are the compositions of a high level but also the band just manage to sound original. If you missed the original release of In The Flames Of Black Art then now is your chance to get it with new cover artwork done by G-r-a-a-l (Behemoth, Yattering, Enter Chaos and Artrosis).
