Open the gates to a church and you will find the tormenting sounds of SUI GENERIS UMBRA. From that moment on you will know that there is no escape. With the black ritual ambience set by the devastating female voice of eLL, artists like Nina Hagen, Dalbello and Queen Adreena have found a dark and dirty sounding sister. Maciek’s electronic music sounds even darker and is filled with hypnotic rhythms. eLL whispers, groans and sings beautifully, creating witchcraft imagery. The album Coma proves that we have to take eLL’s words seriously. She believes she is performing rituals while composing and making music. As a matter of fact, if you listen to Coma you will find her manifestation to bear truth, as the album truly sounds like one big spell. | |
This is not the type of music you would expect coming from a catholic country like Poland. You would in fact expect this to be a release from the ever dark and heavy sounding Cold Meat Industries, but Poland has a dark label of its own: Metal Mind Records. It’s not easy to describe a dark masterpiece like this, but if you think you’ve heard dark and doom, think again. This could be a trip to hell, but it could also be a twisted journey inside your head… SUI GENERIS UMBRA is scarier than the scariest movie. And Coma is definitely a must for everyone whose soul is not docile by nature and for those who above all search the Meaning… With one single word the band gives us the best description of this thrilling music: Amen.
