Dance On Glass is a project initiated by Ania Blomberg (ex-Battalion D’Amour) and Dave Blomberg (also playing in New Model Army and Nozzle). It’s a typical family undertaking; Ania and Dave are married and Arne Blomberg writes some of the band’s music. Ania’s somewhat hoarse voice is the focal point of their music. Opener “Daydreaming” starts off with a high-pitched voice that sounds a bit forced, but after a while Ania sounds more natural and much better. “Flying” is an example of Dance On Glass’ strong features; nicely written and performed songs with some great, mostly relaxed guitar sounds that support the music all the way. It’s a combination of 80’s wave and some 2000 electronic elements. It’s difficult to give any highlights, because the album Daydreaming is filled with good songs. | |
The only downside is that the band never surprises the listener with some experimental stuff. On the other hand, Dance On Glass releases an album that contains a constant level of quality. Just listen to songs such as “Anyway” and “Dying So Slowly” for instance. It’s also good to know that Dance On Glass didn’t forget Ania’s roots in songs like “Sama” and “Taniec Na Szkle” (the Polish version of “Daydreaming”). What’s also great is that the cover of Depeche Mode’s “Never Let Me Down Again” is treated as a Dance On Glass song that fits in perfectly with the concept of Daydreaming. In all, Daydreaming is a great wave/rock album. (Beautevil) |
