I am working my way through the pile of new albums and with most of them I’m not too happy. When I first listened to this one, I thought it was just one of those albums again, but maybe I was wrong. It is not as bad as I thought it was, there is just one aspect that disturbs me: the vocals on most songs. This kind of music needs a solid grunt or anything similar, but the half-clean vocals used on most songs don’t fit the music. The vocals in ‘The Healing’ sound a lot better. A grunt is used in this song and together with the clean vocals it sounds quite nice.
On the other hand, I must say that the rest of the music is really not bad. Most songs are built up out of good solid guitar riffs, and also the solos are played well. | |
I have no remarks about the drum or bass section either, it all sounds fine.
Worth mentioning is that all instruments have been recorded at the same time, in the same space. (The solos and vocals were recorded later of course.)
If you are interested in this progressive mid tempo death metal, this album can be ordered for 15.00 euro within the Benelux. For more information: info@warchitect.nl
When I take a total view of this band, and I ignore the vocals, I must say that there sure is a future for them. The music and build-up are done rather well, and for the rest, they might sort that out…
