If you are looking for anything new in the world of death metal, you can turn your back on this album. Blood Red Throne is not trying to be a barrier-breaking band; they just want to play the kind of death metal they like to listen to themselves. Despite the fact that main man Tchort has played in various black metal bands like Emperor and Satyricon, Blood Red Throne certainly doesn’t sound like them. According to the musicians themselves, they combine elements of bands like Slayer, old Gorguts, Deicide, Cannibal Corpse, Carcass, Death, Obituary and Autopsy. With a bit of imagination you can hear those influences, but the predominate is, without doubt, Cannibal Corpse. Because of the technical guitar riffs, many songs of ‘Affiliated With The Suffering’ could be on one of the latest Cannibal Corpse albums.

This album is produced very well; all instruments can be heard separately. A limited edition digipack will be available, containing the extra songs ‘Mercy Killings’ and ‘Deadly Intentions’. Another aspect for which Blood Red Throne is known is their sick and twisted artwork. This new album again has plenty of that and although the cover is hideous, gruesome and shocking pictures are a steady part of death metal. When the BLOOD begins to boil, and you’re thirsty for some virgin BLOOD although BLOOD is thicker than water, this BLOOD will come for you in the incarnation of Blood Red Throne.
