God, this record starts off intense!! The sound and production are powerful and strong, not too neat or clear, just a nice right-in-your-face-intense-death-metal-sound. If all the tracks are as good as the first three, this album definitely kicks ass!!
BUT…… I only got to hear those first three tracks. Somebody or something wrecked the promo-cd we got from Osmose, and as a result I don’t get to hear the whole album! But you should, and I will too! ‘Cause this stuff is truly great!! The songs are real songs, you can hear that there has been put really much time and effort in the structure of these songs. Musically speaking it’s death metal (duh!!) but not your average kind of American down-tuned Death/Grind. | |
This is more a mixture of Swedish bands such as for instance Vomitory and that aforementioned American sound. So they definitely have their own sound, for if that is possible at all in death metal… The musicians are all playing at a very high level, guitars and drums are played very tightly! The vocals are powerful and intense, just like about everything on this record. Now we’ll just have to hope that it’s not just the first three tracks that rule…
Oh, and for grades, if the rest of the album is just as good as the first tracks, which is very likely, Exmortem definitely deserves this 9!! (Sjoerd) |
