Written, recorded and released, all by their own hands. A professional DIY-outfit, this Index Case from Iowa, United States. Choice or no choice, if you want to make it to the big league you’ll have to work hard for it. The album Glass is a step up for Index Case.

Index Case give us US nu-metal-rock-core; drenched in emotional despair, frustration and depression and drained of any kind of humor. Think of Deftones kicking it with Chimaira. There’s a remarkable exchange between silence and aggression on Glass. As soon as the band opens up all registers it’s like a fist that fits in the eye. Very convincing. Not original, but very convincing. During the quieter parts lead singer Joe Ansley falls a bit short.

His powerful voice is not meant to talk or whisper. Perhaps a second vocalist – with a clean voice – could lift the quality even more. Mind you, this is no reason to deny the band.

Overall Index Case play it safe. Enough melody and hooks. Heavy guitars, grunts and screams, you name it. Personally I think there’s enough quality in Index Case to grow into a more stubborn, original band than they are now. Check out their website at www.indexcase.com. Here you can check out a few of the songs on Glass and order the album yourself. And remember; there’s nothing wrong with supporting a young unsigned band.
