Hypocrite started of back in 1989 influenced by classic American thrash bands. After they had recorded several well received demos and a splits-single with Electrocution, Hypocrite released "Edge of Existence" in 1996. This copy actually is a re-release of that album. Re-mixed, by Fred Estby (Dismember), and mastered, Hypocrite is ready to conquer the rest of Europe with their melodic death-metal with a Viking touch. Most of the songs have these typical melodies which we know from the northern countries. Fine twin-guitars, more intense parts with dark riffing and the death-screams and grunt and you get great songs as "Deep within this flower of sin", "When I`m gone" or "The scream". | |
Take the melodies from the old In-Flames and Bewitched the more back to their roots thrash parts and you know what you can expect. L-G Petrov (Entombed) and Thomas Vikström (Candlemass, Stormwind) are also featuring on this album by singing some vocal parts. This certainly is a quality release of a band that already played with bands as Dissection, Dark Funeral, Amon Amarth and many other bands in the past. I can only hope Hypocrite gets what they deserve now Suburban is responsible for doing their distribution. (Teun) |
