It Lives is the first demo of the similar named band from Holland. Until know It Lives has solely been known for their energetic live concerts. This demo consists of six thrash/heavy metal songs that are reminiscent of the early eighties. Fast up-tempo songs with relatively simple guitar riffs which strongly remind of a band like Overkill.

Although, personally, I think it’s great to hear that good old thrash metal isn’t dead yet, I unfortunately have to conclude that this demo hasn’t too much to offer. The songs are too simple, the production is quite flat and the vocals too much punk-oriented and don’t really fit the tight thrash heavy metal.

I’m certain this demo would sound a whole lot better with different vocals and a fatter production.

The band seems to choose fun over quality and although that might be an attractive feature during live gigs, on a demo it is unfortunately not enough to convince me.
