So what the hell is “Melodic Death Metal”? Before, I could imagine Metal, Death Metal too, melodic no problem, but Melodic Death metal? Well, I just got hit in the face hard by The Duskfall. Ah.
So what can I say? It is definitely metal, and the “death” part I cna recognise too, but I still have doubts about the melodic part. Oh hang on, here comes a melodic part now. Ah, right, so if you play a fast, not too distorted “powermetal”-like solo in between your choppy-riffs, you get the idea. Not too sure if that is a wise thing, but who am I to question it? I just think they could have done without and made a killer record with just the ‘normal’ death music. | |
And while they’re at it, maybe they can do something about the vocals too. They’re okay als long as the band makes enough noise, but every now and then at a break the singeer has to do it all by himself, without backing from the rest, and those are the moments he just (only just, but still...) misses out.
But don’t let this put you off too much. Just listen to it first. (Vincent) |
