Some dinosaurs are hard to get rid of (fortunately). Molly Hatchet is one of the founders of the Southern Rock genre (together with the Allman Brothers and Lynyrd Skynyrd). They are one of the reasons for my preference for vinyl, because their covers are works of art, as is this time. In their 25 years of existence this is their second live album after 17 years.
Two CDs that give a very good overview of an impressive career with a nice selection of songs. | |
This is all presented to you in live versions, and a powerful production. Some extended versions with marvellous solos, although there are no “FreeBird” situations. Sometimes the mix of the massive audience response reminds me of Cheap Trick’s Live At Budokan, but the overall quality of the sound justifies the overdubs. (Cor) |
