Before The Dawn is a promising gothic metal act from Finland, originally started as a solo project from grunt-singer Tuomas. He recorded a demo, which attracted the other four band members. Together, they released another demo tape, followed by a widely praised Gehenna EP in the autumn of 2001. One year later, the band finished enough material to fill an EP, currently titled My Darkness. Accompanied with the recording of a couple of new song, the debut full-length album will be released by the end of February.

For "My Darkness", the band had their production done in the praised Finnvox studios. Not the cheapest studios around, which obviously can be heard on this record; the production is very good! Strongest point of this album however can be found in the fact that these five musicians know what they’re doing and show that they’re more than capable of playing their instruments.

I’m especially referring to the double-bass drumming in a song like My Darkness and the wonderful guitar riffs in "Unbreakable", whilst Panu’s voice also adds its own effect to the music.

Expect a mixture of Trail Of Tears, Tristania and the bastard offspring of Seigmen. I am just sorry for the short amount of time and the cancellation of the European tour with Medication, since this band is probably one of those rare bands that can actually attain their status in a live show.
