When a band biography states that they play ‘honest to god rock and roll’ I get suspicious, but the first tones of this album are reassuring. This is blues rock as it was played in the seventies. It grooves and swings and it’s raw and direct. The sound is very dry. The vocals of guitarists Art Jackson and Sanders Trippe fit well; angry and dirty yet melodic and bluesy. All the band members have played in various indie bands prior to All Night. Somehow this is audible in the sound of their current band.

Sometimes it’s the vocals, sometimes the choice of chords, sometimes it’s the tempo changes. Still, these influences are only light. All Night focuses on the seventies and their blues rock heroes from that period. Singing along with the guitar melody, percussion that makes it even groovier, nice guitar solos that aren’t too long, tight and cool drums, it’s all there. I think I’m going to play this record a lot.
