Officially “Symphony of the Devil” already is Witchery’s fourth full-length release since they were found back in 1997 by former band members of Satanic Slaughter. Responsible for writing Witchery’s typical heavy and thrash metal songs is guitarist Jensen who you all might know from his work with The Haunted. But if you think that Witchery sounds like a copy of this great band you’re wrong. On the other hand you can clearly hear the man’s thrash influences in some of the songs (“None Buried Deeper…”). Fine thrash metal from past times is combined with heavy-metal guitar riffs. Most of the songs are up-tempo but Witchery provided “Symphony of the Devil” with variation by using some (solo) guitar intermezzo’s that really sound as true heavy metal.

Get your air-guitar out of the closet people. Guitarist Jensen seems to be a fine songwriter due to the fact that the songs didn’t bother me any moment. The vocals, done by Toxine, sound as a combination of death grunts mixed with some black influences and fit very well into Witchery’s music. Last but not least it might be good to know that Sharlee d`Angelo (Arch Enemy, Mercyfull Fate) has strengthen their formation.
