Back to the eighties heavy metal, or “true metal” like Manowar and Helloween. Although I have been partly raised with these bands, more recent work in this genre could not impress me. Lost Horizon from Sweden has released their second CD, and sure, it opens with the seemingly compulsory (much too long) intro. This time no bombastic classical orientated stuff, but a spacey launch, fitting with the cover art. The songs are well written, with the right proportions of power and melody.

The performance is tight and convincing. A compliment for the production: a massive sound, yet no overdone bombastic atmosphere, and no dominating sound of the keyboards. The guitarists combine the right proportions of technical snare racing and emotion. The singer limits his inevitable helium screams, showing a broad reach. All in all a well balanced album.
