A little time ago Jester’s Moon released their first – self-titled – studio album. This heavy metal band from Portland, Oregon, USA proclaims to play just Heavy Metal. There is no room for nu-metal, alt-metal or rap-metal on this cd. This statement clearly indicates that Jester’s Moon longs for the 80-ies style metal like Judas Priest. Metalheads who are interested in this period will probably like this release. To be honest I find ‘Jester’s Moon’ a rather disappointing album. The songs are incredibly straight foreward and very predictable.

What is worse is the fact that the drums sound muffled and the vocals seem like a bad bootleg recording. Despite this criticism one must admit that there are some promising tracks. ‘Devils’Eyes’ and ‘User’ are above average. ‘Destination Known’ reminds me a lot of seventies sympho and although the vocal melodies make me a bit sea sick this is not a bad track. I have no doubt that there are people who will love this album. I’m sad to say I’m not one of them.
