I for one am not a big fan of U2. This makes it a rather tricky business to write a review of Shivers new album ‘The Sun Leaves The Day’. It leaves no doubt that this Dutch band is strongly influenced by the pop-rockers from Ireland. When listening to the album, some other bands come to mind; Simple Minds, Kane and Tom Petty to name a few. Usually I’m not very fond of continuous references to other bands, but Shiver is an exception. The songs on The Sun Leaves The Day sound fresh and sparkling. The production of the album is fantastic. Without a doubt this is one of the best self produced albums I’ve ever heard.

If I should mention a little point of criticism, at sometimes I find the songs a little too guitar orientated. This goes for the compositions as well as in the mix. All in all I must admit that I’m very impressed by ‘The Sun Leaves The Day’. Pop-rock fans can buy this high quality album through the bands own website for only 10 euros! After supporting Anouk and Big Country I’m pretty sure that this band is capable to make it to the major stages in the country and maybe even beyond the borders.
