The Finnish metal band Solution 13 was formed in 2000. The music on the self titled debut album can be best described as anger/energy metal. The info sheet accompanying the promo cd states that ‘Solution 13’ features 11 hard hitting metal songs that are bound to make your head bang. That is true, Solution 13 is nothing more and nothing less.
The straight approach to the genre works out for most of the songs. Nevertheless there are some vocal parts that just don’t seem to fit in with the music. This happens for example in ‘Sink To My Level’ where singer Ikka Javenpaa just seems to be shouting through the music. | |
‘Demi-Gods’ and ‘Regression’ are tracks that reminds me of the more popular songs by Rage Against The Machine and Guano Apes.
‘Isolation’ is without a doubt the best track on the cd. The track is full of emotion. This time not just instrumentally but also by heavy vocals, alternated by a mystical whispering intermezzo. The approach of this song might be the right direction for the band to involve in. Rage Against The Machine fans might want to check this album out, despite the fact that most tracks are nothing more than just above average.
