It seems to be the month of the noisecore EPs, with Drowningman taking the lead and Mastodon following with a scheduled October release. But where Drowningman takes the rock`n`roll corner of the ring, Mastodon has taken more of their influences from the deathmetal area and combined it with the best of noisecore. Closely related to the likes of Keelhaul and Burnt By The Sun, in 5 songs we are given a view of the diffuse abilities of Brann Dailor and Bill Kelliher (both ex-Today Is The Day) backed up by Brent Hinds and Troy Sanders (both ex-Social Infestation).

"Shadows That Move"/"Welcoming War" are no-nonsense heavy fuckers packed with hooks and blasts, "Hail Of Fire" is the most experimental song of the five with some of the catchiest guitar riffs you`ve ever heard. My only suggestion is to put the vocals and bass more to the front in the mix and to get back to writing more songs - in the meantime, I`ll press the repeat button one more time.
