‘The Buzz Electric’ is the second full-length Apers release, and if the omens aren’t mistaken, this is the release that will catapult them into worldwide punkrock stardom. Their debut album (Remarkably called ‘The Apers’) brought them to people’s attention in a host of European countries, and with the quality offered on ‘The Buzz...’, more should be just around the corner for this band from Rotterdam. Basically, the band continues in the direction they headed for with the debut CD, but everything is a bit more polished towards perfection here. The sound quality is great and the 12 songs are about as catchy as the plague. The music is simple (think Ramones or The Undertones) but effective and as tight as Britney’s ass. Kevin Aper sounds super-snotty (As usual), but his voice is just perfect for this type of punk rock.

Some of the lyrics deal with the punkscene (These are the funniest, in my laughable opinion), but by far the largest chunk is about girls and/or relationships. The songwriting is split almost 50/50 between Marien Nicotine and Kevin Aper, but in general their songs aren’t really different. The only complaint I can think of about this CD is that the songs sometimes are, well, very similar, but why should I bitch about that when they’re all as good as ‘Love Me Touch Me Feel Me’ or ‘Here To Stay’? This band has worked it’s ass off over the years, so I hope this record brings them the success they deserve. Go check them out on stage (Which is where they belong) and admire self-proclaimed sex symbol Jerry Hormone on guitar before they sail off for a six week US tour with the Groovy Ghoulies.
