I’m holding a nice sampler here. Twenty bands that show us the finest of the famous Roadrunner releases. Roadrunner itself established a huge name with bands like Sepultura, Coal Chamber and Machine Head, but this sampler shows there’s a wide variety of bands on the label. This sampler offers rarities, B-sides and unreleased material from such bands as the three aforementioned, but there’s also the fine rock of Life of Agony, the brutal assault of Deicide and the hauntingly creepy Type O Negative.

So, overall this is a nice collection representing the better work of some bands, but mostly unreleased stuff. To name a few titles; there’s a remix of "Spit It Out" (Slipknot), the unreleased "Crash Crash" (Murderdolls) and a handful of cover songs; Discharge, Nirvana and The Cure are played by respectively Soulfly, Machine Head and Chimaira.

One negative point might be the variety as well, though. Of course, each song represents the best of the artists` repertoire (Coal Chamber, Life Of Agony), as well as the peak of their careers (Fear Factory, Sepultura) but I believe Roadrunner could have made this album so much more interesting if they’d offer it for a mid-price. Even though there’s much rare material, only 3 songs are previously unreleased, so the rest of the songs are already paid off. That’s the only negative point For the rest, I can only repeat the title Roadrunner gave the album: The Heart Of Roadrunner Records.
