A couple of years ago one of the best bands from the Netherlands – I dare to say – was conquering the music scene with their opus "Headtrips". They even went to the States to do a short tour in support of this great album. After a disagreement about their musical course, lead singer Boris Bouma decided to go his own way and he went back to the United States where he met Bruce Allen (guitar), Jimmy DC Daniel (bass) and Tim Ganard (drums) and they started making music under the name Epidemic.

Together with producer Rick Parashar (Pearl Jam) the foursome went into the studio to record their self-titled debut. Melodic vocals and music ranging from soft melodic to more heavier orientated songs characterize Epidemic’s sound. They combine elements of grunge, nu metal and at times even good old fashion pop music. Boris is a very talented singer who can easily switch between Maynard (Tool) alike to more grungy (Chris Cornell and Eddie Vedder) alike vocals.

Add to this Bruce’s melodic and heavy guitar riffs, Jimmy’s groovy bass lines, Tim’s up tempo rolling drums and even a live orchestra ("Burden Of A Thought") and you’ll have a nice idea of what Epidemic is capable of. They fuse the best elements of modern rock music into a perfect melodic blend of heavy music which can appeal to fans of Pearl Jam and Nickleback, but also to fans of Deftones and Linkin Park!

Although this promo sampler only contains three songs ("Catalyst", "Generic The Norm" and "Walk Away") it clearly shows that Epidemic are very talented. I already imported their album a couple of months ago and I can assure you that it’s a blast! 4 Tune Records has made it a lot easier for you, because they are distributing the album. You can buy it for only € 16,- (including shipping and handling) from their web store at www.4tune-shop.nl.
